This benefit depends on hostel. When you come and stay in a hostel, you can save money by find something to help them improve room, services or promote for them. For example, if you see they need someone to help in hostel restaurant or prepare breakfast for guests etc, you can tell them to work about 5 hours per day in restaurant for free staying, maybe you will have free food also ^^
